Your Private Island Retreat Steps From The Beach On What’s Been Called “Florida’s Best Kept Secret!"
Little Gasparilla Island is a hidden treasure centered between Sarasota and Ft. Myers on Florida's West Coast and is well-known for its pristine beaches and beautiful blue-green gulf waters.
According to Florida folklore, Gasparilla Island gets its name from the legendary pirate captain José Gaspar, who had his base on the island and reportedly hid his fabulous treasure there.
You are only a short walk to the beach or the docks where you can enjoy beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico and incredible sunsets as you search for sea shells, sunbathe, go swimming or walk along the beach.
The fishing is fantastic. With a host of great fishing guides and charters, this area is tops for world-class fishing and boating. You are at the center of Florida’s best inshore and offshore fishing with abundant tarpon, snook, redfish, grouper, and snapper and fabulous fishing from the dock or right on the Gulf!
Enjoy water sports such as scuba diving, kayaking, and sailing. Make the best sand castles ever, walk on the beach as you hold your lover’s hand, explore, swim, run, or have a treasure hunt! Or if you choose, just sit back and relax and enjoy the Island Life!
The beach is wide and sandy and the waters are calm on the Gulf of Mexico. Many days you can walk the beach alone and not see another person. Instead, you may watch shorebirds, crabs, and giant sea turtles which come here every year to lay their eggs. Porpoises cruise up and down the beachfront. Manatees glide under the docks and offshore near the sandbar as Osprey circle the skies looking for fish.
Little Gasparilla Island is one of the last “Bridgeless” barrier islands. It has no bridges and is reachable only by private boat or the area's water taxi. There are no paved roads, just sandy pathways. Golf carts or walking are the usual way to get around. The island is only about 1/4 mile wide, so it is an easy walk to the dock or the beach.
While the boat ride from the mainland is only 10 minutes, Little Gasparilla is a world apart. From the moment you arrive, you'll feel your stress melt away as you unplug and reconnect.
That's what folks LOVE about this area. It evokes a feeling of a bygone era with no commercialization. If you need to go to the store, malls, shopping, restaurants, and nightlife, Placida and Englewood are a short 10 to 30 minutes away. Or you can use a local grocery delivery service.
You’ll love your private island retreat!
