This charming cottage was originally built in 1942, relocated in 1988 and completely renovated in 2001, everything brought up to code. The back portion with second story was added at that time. All windows are double pane. The 3 bed 2 bath home has 2 stories and 2,216 sq. ft. of living space. The living space offers ample natural lighting, volume ceilings and pocket doors opening the living area for entertainment. This historic home's hard wood floors and fire place remain in pristine condition. The fenced in back yard is a tropical hideaway with a custom designed heated pool. The home is steeped in history. The original owner was Pershing Thompson. Pershing, worked for Standard Oil and built the Waterfront Motel, now known as The Innlet. The Thompson family was very involved with the development of Boca Grande, Florida. Up until 1988, when the Gasparilla Inn purchased the land on E. Railroad, Pershing's cottage sat next to his parent's cottage, which is now known as the "MomaDear Cottage." After the land was purchased, the Thompson's decided they wanted to keep their original homes so they relocated them. Maxine, the niece of Frederick and Mary Frances bought a lot on 11th St and had Pershing's cottage moved to it's current location.
