Wedgefield is a planned 20,000 acre neighborhood which honed its name in 1983. Originally built and designed in the 1960s, this community was intended to house the Kennedy Space Center employees and was formerly known as Rocket City. In 1983, the Cape Orlando Corporation began to further develop this community and transform it into Wedgefield, which is now recognized as a country club and golf neighborhood with a rural, suburban feel.
